Scrum Master

Location: Laval, QC
Schedule: full-time, 40 hours/week (remote work available)

The Scrum Master’s responsibilities include ensuring that development teams follow scrum framework values and agile practices, mentoring and motivating the teams to improve processes, facilitating meetings and decision-making processes, and eliminating team impediments.

To be successful as a scrum master, you should have a firm grasp of engineering, agile practices and the ability to effectively manage and mentor development teams. An outstanding scrum master should have excellent interpersonal, project management, and problem-solving skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Act as the Agile RTE/Scrum Master for Nutcache Scrum pods;

  • Guide and coach the Scrum team on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services;

  • Responsible for ensuring an Agile is followed and the team adheres to Scrum theory, practice, and guidelines with our customers;

  • Using agile methodology values, principles, and practices to plan, manage, and deliver solutions;

  • Support product owners with Story Map, Journey Map, various requirements gathering techniques and scrum activities as needed and work closely with Product UX to keep the backlog healthy;

  • Be a goal driven program leader, have a collaborative team-player attitude and rollup sleeve attitude;

  • Get the team to a high performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate coaching and development techniques;

  • Actively participate in guild(s) related to SAFe and related practices;

  • Coach team members and other stakeholders in SAFe and Agile practices, as needed;

  • Coach the Scrum team in self-organization, cross-functional skill set, domain knowledge and communicates effectively, both internally and externally working within the Scrum team;

  • Work with Scrum Team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making and support organizational project or product teams;

  • Resolve team impediments to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization;

  • Contribute to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization;

  • Facilitate and supports all scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective;

  • Act as a leader who coaches and supports Agile teams assigned to mainly Business as Usual (BAU) work and to a lesser degree, important department initiatives and applicable portions of corporate projects and initiatives;

  • Help with team adoption of development industry and departmental best practices and processes related to SAFe;

  • Need to forecast the numbers of deliverables possible in an iteration, which is based on evidence and reliable source;

  • Need to forecast Capacity Planning, Bug Density, Agile Metrics every Sprint and present status reports to stakeholders;

  • Work with management to ensure smooth rollout of SAFe to the organization, including providing input and direction to help establish department standards and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master degree in computer science, information technology, or a relevant field preferred;

  • Certified Scrum Master, PMP, SAFe5.0 Agilist preferred;

  • A software engineering development background is highly preferred;

  • Exemplifies and promotes engineering, Agile values and principles;

  • Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and coaching skills;

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;

  • Working knowledge of agile methodology, techniques, and frameworks, such as Scrum or Kanban, to deliver solutions;

  • Leadership and management experience;

  • Knowledge of an agile framework or method (i.e. Scrum, Kanban), or understanding of software development life cycle models as well as in-depth knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices;

  • Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques;

  • Planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams;

  • Experience working in complex, multi-project.
